EXTHYMIC

We bring cell therapy to patients.

A letter from Exthymic

Cell therapies are amazing.

Patients can’t get them.

Our mission is to fix that.

In many parts of the US it is difficult or impossible to get a curative cell therapy like CAR-T. A physician treating a patient with an aggressive cancer in one of these settings faces a difficult decision: refer them to a specialized center with the treatment many hours away, upending their life in the process, or treat them locally with the only options they can access. No one wins here, yet it’s a common outcome for most patients across the US.

It’s not that the field hasn’t tried to solve this problem. Mobile apheresis collection, automated manufacturing platforms with advanced robotics, accelerated production processes, and in-vivo cell therapies—they all try to bring cell therapy delivery closer to the patient while reducing the costs to produce them.

These are innovative solutions to the wrong problem.

Cell therapies are powerful because they use the patient’s own cells as the therapy. That’s also what makes them so hard to produce. Patient variability—the biological attributes and treatment history that make each of us unique—is the hard problem to overcome for reliable production and delivery of these potentially curative treatments.

We believe the inability to manage this variability is why cell therapies have failed to live up to their potential. And this is what we’re trying to solve.

We are building a future where cell therapy is routine. We’ve developed technologies to manage patient variability directly and make local production possible. We will use these technologies to bring production of cell therapies like CAR-T to your community, for all patients, not just those with the healthiest cells. We will advance our own medicines and partner with others who want to build with us. We will work tirelessly until everyone can access these medicines.

We’re not a tools company.

We’re not a biotech.

We’re not a CDMO.

We’re a cell therapy company.

We’re Exthymic.
